German Shepherd Dogs Save Lives
The recent horrible tragedy of the murder of Chelsea King has weighed heavily on my mind over the past few days. On the one hand, I want to spread the word about the important role my dogs have in my life, on the other hand, I do not want anyone to accuse me of trying to capitalize on such a horrible tragedy. After careful consideration, I've decided that if my little words will help one family avoid that senseless destruction, I will be doing the right thing.
So: Always walk with a buddy. If you don't have a buddy, take a pet. Preferrably, a big, scary, trained to defend you with their life pet. That is the job of German Shepherds. They instinctively protect their owners and will do so with their lives. Trained, they are even more fierce and deadly to an opponent.
I found this video on YouTube, it is a great example of what German Shepherds are capable of doing. This video is obviously shot by their owners who have extensive training invested in their dogs, and here at Von Ward German Shepherd Dog Kennels we highly recommend professionally training your GSD. Check out their site at: Minnesota Dog Training.
But let's ponder another way of thinking. Professional training is only part of the puzzle. German Shepherds are born with a protective nature, and they are fantastic family dogs, even with young children. Not only are German Shepherds capable of disabling a grown man from attacking a victim, GSD's are intimidating just to look at them! My husband and I firmly believe if Chelsea King had been jogging with a GSD by her side, she would still be alive today. The German Shepherd's indimidation alone would have been more than effective protection. Please realize, I am in no way criticizing that poor girl's family, I'm sure they never thought a thing like this could happen to them. I am only trying to bring this subject home to people.
These days, the threat is real. There are monsters living among us, and no matter what neighborhood we live in, what park we spend our time in, or how many resources we have to identify predators, they still exist in our world. Having a trained German Shepherd Dog walking or running by your side truly could save your life.
